Law Day and WSBA Ambassadors: From Courthouse Steps to Classroom Desks

In 2025, the Washington legal community sent a powerful message: We are united around the rule of law. It’s time to put those words into action.

From Bellingham to Vancouver, Yakima to Spokane, last year nearly 2,000 of you stood together to recommit to our professional oaths. Since then, the Rule of Law Ambassador Program has launched statewide tours, created timely CLEs, and partnered with experts to combat misinformation.

Now, we are focusing on our most important audience: our future leaders. As we approach our nation’s 250th anniversary, there is no better way to uphold our founding documents than by instilling a passion for the law in the next generation.

For Law Day 2026 on May 1, we are evolving. We are asking every licensed legal professional in Washington to pledge to volunteer at a local school on Constitution Day on Sept. 17 as part of our Lawyers in the Classroom program.

Why Take the Pledge Early?

While Law Day is May 1, the work of restoring confidence starts now. By pledging early to visit a classroom on Constitution Day, you give us the time to:

  • Match you with local teachers who are eager for your expertise.
  • Equip you with “epic” turnkey lessons—ready-to-go civics materials created by the Administrative Office of the Courts.
  • Deliver a Constitution Day gift basket to a local school—a simple way to introduce yourself, show appreciation for teachers, and kick off a relationship that can last beyond one classroom visit.

Our constitutional democracy depends on the next generation being invested in its success. Let’s show them that the legal profession doesn’t just represent the law—it represents them.

Let’s inspire the future leaders of our democracy together. Take the pledge!

Thank you for taking the first step. Together, we’ll show the next generation that the next 250 years are theirs to lead. The WSBA will be sharing more resources, toolkit updates, and stories of impact as we get closer to our statewide celebration.
