mp3 cles now on saleThe WSBA-CLE Almost Summer Sale is in full swing, with recorded seminars being offered at 50–75% off.  If you’re low on CLE credits, this is a great chance to pick up some great seminars at low prices — up to half of your required CLE credits can be earned through recorded seminars (A/V credits). If you’re looking out your doesn’t-even-open office window at the sunshine, wishing you could get out and enjoy it, pick up some of these MP3 CLEs and head outside to earn some credits!

Below are five full-day MP3 CLEs — on sale for $92 each (regular price $230) — I’ll be adding to my summer playlist. To make the list a little more exciting, I’ve listed some tunes to enjoy with your new CLEs. Sorry, you’ll have to purchase the songs separately.

The Essential Toolkit for the Solo and Small Practice — Now 60% off: Sale Price $92

If you want to hang your shingle but you’re not quite sure how to do it, this is the CLE for you. Covering practice transitions, two hours of ethics issues, and financial considerations, the only other thing you’ll need to go solo is a bit of chutzpah! If you’re interested in this topic, you should also check out the 8th Annual Solo and Small Firm Conference in July.

Companion tune: “Time of Your Life,” by Green Day.

Marijuana Law in Washington —  Now 60% off: Sale Price $92

While the details of how sales will be regulated are still being worked out, Washington’s legalization of marijuana is a hot topic. I’m looking forward to getting up to speed with this CLE, which covers everything from ethical issues to zoning to medical use.

Companion tune: “Everybody Must Get Stoned,” by Bob Dylan (or, well, anything by Bob Dylan).

Estate Planning Fundamentals (August 2012) — Now 60% off: Sale Price $92

Between law school classes and volunteering with the First Responder Wills Clinic, I’ve always enjoyed estate planning. With coverage of the new trust act and estate and gift tax basics, among other topics, this CLE will be a great refresher and update for me. Now I won’t have any excuses to keep putting off drafting a will!

Companion tune: “Did I Make the Most of Loving You,” by Mary Jess, a.k.a. the Downton Abbey theme. Or you could watch all three seasons of entail drama. No CLE credits for that, but you could write a great blog post about all the estate planning lessons!

Same-Sex Marriage, Registered Domestic Partnerships & Committed Intimate Relationships: What You Need to Know Now (December 2012) — Now 60% off: Sale Price $92

When my husband and I got married in 2010, we gave a donation to Lambda Legal in lieu of wedding favors. So I was excited when R74 passed and I’m interested in learning more about its effects and national issues like DOMA and cross-border recognition and portability.

Companion tune: “Same Love,” by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

Wild Horses Shouldn’t Keep You Away: 10th Annual WSBA Animal Law Seminar (January 2013) — Now 60% off: Sale Price $92

I’ve been psyched about this CLE since January, and now it’s finally loaded onto my iPhone. With animal law updates, wild horse round-ups, and tips for using a vet as an expert witness, this CLE is guaranteed to please anyone with an Animal Planet addiction, a collection of My Little Ponies, or anyone otherwise interested in animal law. This CLE is a steal, so long as it doesn’t inspire me to buy my daughter a pony.

Companion tune: it couldn’t be anything other than “Wild Horses,” by the Rolling Stones.
