Praise for Pro Bono in the New Bar News

In 2020, nearly 2,500 WSBA members contributed about 178,000 hours of pro bono legal services. That’s more than 70 hours per person, on average. That’s almost twice the national average, according to the ABA. And that’s more than 20 hours beyond the pro bono hours needed to make the Pro Bono Publico Honor Roll.

Pro Bono Month Nears End, but Opportunities and Needs Still Abound

The pandemic has changed the landscape for many, businesses closing, individuals facing eviction, and unemployment and disproportionate impacts on communities of color. Legal professionals of all practice areas and license types can help in a variety of ways. In October, the WSBA celebrates Pro Bono Month. Leave it to Washington legal professionals to raise the bar. WSBA is proud to highlight the many, many Washington legal professionals named in the 2017 Washington State Supreme Court Pro Bono Publico Honor Roll, which recognizes individuals who reported at least 50 hours of pro bono work in 2017.
